We’re All About Community
At Holy Ghost, we think of ourselves as one big family, made up of many diverse personalities, gifts and life experiences. That’s why the minute you walk into our school, you’ll feel a sense of belonging for you and your child. From preschool on up to fifth grade, instruction is delivered in a values-centered family atmosphere that fosters respect from and for all students and staff. We also attend Mass together weekly and practice service to each other, to the school, to our church, to the community and to our families.
Our school community also includes Holy Ghost Early Childhood, which provides preschool and pre–K classes as well as childcare for children six weeks to 12 years. Nowhere else in Dubuque can you drop off your infant through elementary-age children at one location for full-day care, which, paired with the before- and after-school programs, is a major convenience for our parents.
With a low student-to-teacher ratio, our professional, dedicated teachers can provide individual attention and provide the challenges and support your child needs. To meet the needs of all learners, we follow Holy Family’s core curriculum and offer differentiated enrichment activities through extensive technology use, Title One reading, special needs services and an after-school mentoring program.
We have integrated technology as a key player in our curriculum, helping to make lessons come alive and to target the interests and skill levels of individual learners. We have interactive white boards in every room, a newly updated wireless system, multiple carts full of laptops, as well as iPads and e-readers.
1:1 Mentoring Program
Each day after school, children can be matched with a caring adult who provides individual homework assistance.
Groups such as drama club, book club, student council, choir and bell choir help students identify and develop their talents and also build community.
