Personalized College Counseling

The world of post-secondary education is vast. From determining which college choices fit best to long and complex admissions and financial aid processes, many parents and students wish they had a guide for the journey. Enter the designated college counselor Wahlert Catholic High School offers its students.

In 2011, with the help of a grant from BP Oil and the Molo family, Wahlert Catholic added the college counseling service to the guidance office. This position is 100 percent dedicated to ensuring that students feel confident about their preparations for a future career path, whether they seek additional schooling at a two- or four-year college, military school or vocational school.

Wahlert’s college counseling service specifically provides assistance:

  • Increasing awareness among students of unexpected college opportunities and scholarship options.
  • Comparing college options.
  • Setting up college visits.
  • Applying to college.
  • Applying for scholarships.
  • Selecting the right school for the individual.

Services are also available to parents to ensure they are comfortable with each step of the post-secondary planning process, including the College Corner, a newsletter with a bi-weekly edition for seniors and a monthly edition for grades 9–11.
