12th Grade High School Timeline

  • Keep your grades up! Colleges will look at your senior schedule and grades.
  • Get a new planner and get organized. You will need to remember deadlines for applications, scholarships, financial aid, housing, etc.
  • If needed, take the ACT again in September or October. The October ACT will be given at Wahlert. A point higher may give you more scholarship opportunities.
  • Continue to narrow down your interests and abilities. Narrow down your possible college majors. Talk to a guidance counselor if you would like some help.
  • In September, counselors will talk with all seniors in regards to graduation, college applications, scholarships, financial aid, etc.
  • Counselors will meet with seniors individually to double check graduation requirements and talk about the student’s college search.
  • If you are an athlete and would like to play in college, be sure to check out the NCAA clearinghouse or NAIA webpages to apply for eligibility.
  • Continue to visit and research possible colleges. Check out many different types to get a feel for what you really want.
  • Look over the college information located on the Guidance webpage.
  • By mid October you should have narrowed down your college search and start applying to the schools you are most interested in.
  • Once you have applied, be sure to stop in guidance and request an official transcript. The first transcript is free and each one after is $1.00.
  • In January you can start filling out the FAFSA with the help of your parent(s).
  • In February, scholarships start rolling into the guidance office. All scholarships offered through guidance will be posted on our website and outside of the guidance office. Stop in anytime to pick up an application.
