  • Take the PLAN Test (Pre-ACT) in November during school hours.
  • Review PLAN results and projected ACT scores.
  • Look over the PLAN interest inventory results to discover possible career directions.

  • Choose junior courses with the help of your parents and counselors.
  • Maintain good study habits.
  • Continue to achieve your highest GPA.
  • Know your own cumulative GPA and continue researching what colleges look for in a high school student.
  • Continue to think about your interests and abilities. Build your list of possible career directions. Interview adults in careers that may interest you. Set up a shadow and/or attend “Exploring” post meetings in the fall.
  • Begin to explore different colleges by using www.collegeboard.com. Use their matchmaker tool to help you narrow down your possible options. Check out www.ihaveaplaniowa.org to get even more career and college information.
  • Using your activities and service work list from freshman year, begin to build a resume.
