One of four elementary sites in the Holy Family Catholic School system, St. Anthony School is a preschool through grade 5 program
Our high standardized test scores are proof of our strong academic program utilizing differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners. Math contracts, on-line programs, and class projects are used for those students who are “ready to go on”. Small group work, one-on-one assistance or alternative curriculums are used for those needing additional assistance.
The four pillars of Catholic education are incorporated into daily life: service, community, worship and message. Service is an on-going component in Catholic Schools, and throughout the year, our students and staff participate in such activities as letters to the elderly, a yearly Thanksgiving food collection, care packages for Sisters, and collections for the missions in India and Haiti. We worship together weekly at Mass and at prayer services during Advent and Lent. We also celebrate community through various Faith Families activities. Our character education program focuses on Christian values and sends a strong message about the importance of character and good decision making.
An outstanding program we offer, through a partnership with Clarke College in Dubuque, is the Clarke PDS (Professional Development School). This model is exclusive to our campus at the elementary level. It allows for education majors to spend a semester on our campus enhancing classroom curriculum through whole group, small group or individual instruction. While working with our students and staff, Clarke students develop the necessary skills, knowledge and experience for the classroom. In addition to the classroom enhancement they receive, the St. Anthony students also benefit from current instructional strategies and techniques. It is a win-win situation for all involved!
